11. Wexford – Tacumshane Windmill – 7km SW of Rosslare 52.20876, -6.42406
I’ve just realised it’s been two months since I wrote a blog post. Years ago, in another blogosphere, I would blog every second day, or once a week at least.
I’ve a lot going on at the moment between learning to ride my own bike (that’s a whole blog post in itself), and decorating the house. Oh, and we were away for a while walking part of the French Camino – from St. Jean Pied de Port to Logrōno. That was an amazing experience that I’m very grateful for, and I hope to go back to do another section of it next year.
In the meantime, we’re trying to get through a few photo points now that the good weather has finally arrived. Sunday was a glorious day and we took advantage of the sunshine and blue skies and took a spin down to Tacumshane Windmill in Wexford.
The windmill is very picturesque and in a lovely location situated at the rear of Meylers Millhouse Bar and Restaurant. There’s a long car park at the side of the bar premises leading into a smaller one nearer the windmill. Two sheltered park benches on a green area in front of the windmill provide the opportunity to sit and enjoy a picnic if you’ve brought one with you. We had, and it was lovely to sit in the sunshine for a while and take photos.
If you’re doing the Irish Photo Rally or just visiting the windmill, then it’s worth noting that the key to the windmill can be obtained in the Millhouse Bar. We didn’t know this at the time and it would have been nice to see inside the windmill.
