12. Carlow/Kilkenny Brawder’s Family Blacksmith – 9 km NE of Carrick-on-Suir 52.42154600° -7.36261300°
Finally we made a start on the 2019 Irish Photo Rally points. A spur of the moment decision one weekend a couple of weeks ago meant we crossed No. 12 – Brawder’s Family Blacksmith – off the list.
One of the best things about the Irish Photo Rally is that it brings you to places you’d never have thought of visiting, and then you find yourself interested in why these places exist.
The Brawder’s family blacksmith commemorative building is sited on the location of the ruins of an original forge which operated from 1860. The beautiful stonework, a feature of the village of Tullahought, has received praise during the annual Tidy Towns competitions.
Once again, coordinates were spot on. Once we found ourselves in Tullahought, we stopped to open up our pre-loaded points in Google maps and were able to locate the photo point. We’re looking forward to getting a few more done as soon as I’ve the last few hours of the IBT completed.
